This pheasant is a part of Coelina Martinez's wildlife series mixing minimalism with realism. Pheasants spend most of their lives on the ground, but use their flight abilities to escape danger or transport themselves efficiently. When you walk in nature, pheasants can be found in tall grass looking for their next meal of leaves or insects, however startling a pheasant can cause them to take flight. This piece, "Out of the Blue" captures that sudden flight if you were to come across a pheasant in nature. Coelina chose to capture the male species because their brilliant, mate attracting colors.
